March of the Penguins

Year: 2005
Director: Luc Jacquet

Summary: A look at the annual journey of Emperor penguins as they march — single file — to their traditional breeding ground.

Times Watched: 2

Solid documentary. Morgan Freeman narrates this well and there are some amazing shots. It’s a bit melodramatic at times, but the anthropomorphism of the penguins helps with the investment. What penguins have to go through to keep up their population is insane.

  1. I enjoy the melodrama. I mean, I think a quiet doc like this needs a little of it.

I watched this with Skim when she was maybe 2. She was actually pretty into it, and laughed every time the penguins walked.
