Oliver Twist

Year: 2005
Director: Roman Polanski

Summary: Director Roman Polanski and writer Ronald Harwood re-imagine Charles Dickens’ classic story of a young boy who gets involved with a gang of pickpockets in 19th Century London.

Times Watched: 1

My Experience: Saw this in the theater with my dad; we both loved the original musical and were interested in seeing a darker version. Polanski mostly succeeds in recreating the oppressive environment on the 19th century London slums. Ben Kingsley is awesome as Fagin. A lot of people say the movie drags; I suppose it does at times but I remember feeling moved throughout.
